That’s Raghu Dixit Project!!!

Blaring guitar, heavy bass, groovy beats, soothing sound of the flute and BANG ON vocals by Raghu Dixit! Yes, that’s what makes “The Raghu Dixit Project.” These folk-rockers from South-India have performed in more than 20 countries. They make some of the finest music which you can listen on any given day. They have performed for the Queen of England recently and are leaving their mark in every country they visit.

If you love listening to folk or fusion kind of music, then this is a band you surely must have come across. The fans (including me) had a crazy night on 18th October with The Raghu Dixit Project playing live and Canvas Mumbai. Though, the show started almost 40 minutes late, it was still worth waiting for them to get on stage. Clad in their traditional attire, they kept everyone engrossed in their 2-hour long set.

Besides their regular Ambar, No man will ever love you, Masti ki basti and Mysore Se Aayi Woh, the band played some new songs in Kannada as well as Hindi. And, these new songs would be featuring on their upcoming album “Jag Changa.” The set list included a song written by Ankur Tewari based on Raghu Dixit’s childhood days in Nasik. But, the song which enthralled the crowd was Lokada Kalaji and Mahadeshwara. Those who didn’t knew the language also sang it and that too at the top of their voices.

In between the crowd, there was a birthday girl for whom Raghu Dixit and everyone sang the Birthday song. Yes, like all other girls, she also had a crush on the charming prince of the band, Parth (Flautist). So, to make her birthday a memorable one, Raghu Dixit dedicated a song (No man will ever love you) to her, on behave of Parth. And, also assured that her gift (Parth) would be packed and parceled to her in a Lungi.

By the time, the gig came to an end, the crowd was jumping to Mysore Se Aayi Woh. They all took a bow and started wrapping up. While Gaurav Vaz donned the manager’s hat after gig, Raghu Dixit started engaging with the people and posing for a photo. People left with high spirit, no pun intended.

P.S.: Eagerly waiting for Jag Changa to be launched…

Airtel Internet Ad – Jo Tera Hai Woh Mera Hai

Lately, I’ve been watching this Airtel ad everywhere. Yeah, the same, “Joh Tera Hai Woh Mera Hai” one. It’s stuck up in my head and refuses to walk away. Every time I switch on my TV for some music, this song has to be aired at that time. I don’t abhor the ad, but it’s too catchy and I can’t stop humming it over and over again! It’s an ad, where every youth can easily relate to. And, it has to, because it’s about FRIENDSHIP!!!

We all have friends without which our life would be like a deserted forest. Don’t you agree? The lyrics are very well written with day-to-day activities we do. Yes, Facebook, Twitter, what else do we do? But, hats off to whoever has written it! Also the video captures the perfect camaraderie.

Here are the lyrics of that song and if have not seen it, watch it here! I bet on that by the end of the ad, you’ll be humming this song.

I, Me, Myself, Boring hai
US & WE Interesting hai
Internet hai toh, friendship hai
Friendship hey toh sharing hai

Jo mera hai woh tera hai, Jo tera hai woh mera
Jo mera hai woh tera hai, Jo tera hai woh mera

Hey, unghliyyon se mujhe drag kar le (Hey hey…)
Maze ke har pal tag kar le (Hey hey…)
Mera nasta tera cup plate ho
Feeling teri mera update ho
Jokes peh mere wink bhejh de
Jaye tu jahan mujhe link bhej de

Jo mera hai woh tera hai, Jo tera hai woh mera
Jo mera hai woh tera hai, Jo tera hai woh mera

Jaib teri mera kharcha ho (Hey hey…)

Hum se baneh hum sub
Sub se judeh toh zindagi

Jo mera hai woh tera hai, Jo tera hai woh mera
Jo mera hai woh tera hai, Jo tera hai woh mera

A day of emptiness…

There is this one that comes every month, wherein I don’t know what happens to me. I feel like disconnecting myself from the world and being in my own world of loneliness. Though, this does not happens every time, but when it does, I feel a bit cynical about whatever I think and whatever I do. These are the times when my hands are typing, but my mind’s drifting somewhere else.

This is the time when I listen to more of metal or you can say heavy metal (I’m talking about music, not about iron, but yes about Iron Maiden).

This is the time when I don’t feel like talking to anyone on this planet. Just some “Alone Time” to get me back to my normal life from the darkness of that lonesomeness.

This is the time when I refuse to answer any calls or revert back to the messages.

This is the time when I ’m high on adrenaline. Even a question sounds like a blow to me.

This is the time when I wrap my feelings in a thick fur of anger and let it out through some mind-blasting hard rock, punk rock, progressive metal, heavy metal, nu-metal and every possible music genre which sounds heavy.

This is the time, while writing this post, I’m listening to Noiseware. It’s a heavy metal band from Pune for those who are not aware of them.

This is the time I don’t want any damn thing to takeover my psyche. I just want to be the way I’m for a few minutes or hours.

This is the time when my body temperature starts boiling.

This is the time when no one can calm me down, no matter what.

Though, previously I used to listen to anything (bollywood) that’s melancholy and makes me sadder to the deep of my heart. But that’s not the scenario now. Now, I say: come and crash me so hard that it rips me apart and take all my loneliness.

Do you have a day like this???

Barter system: the key to happiness!!!

Sometimes I reckon barter system was a convenient way of trading. Yeah, you got it right! The same barter system which you must have come across during your schooling. The farmers used to exchange 10 Kg rice for 5 Kg Wheat or something similar…

Did anything ring in your mind? Have you ever thought of it? It just struck me while I wanted to buy a musical instrument (I love music and everything related to it) and was falling short of money. I began to imagine, if I wanted to buy this keyboard, why can’t I exchange something that I already have. Rather than collecting my pocket money and pinching my stomach, why can’t I trade something that’s taking up space in my house? And, that’s how this Blog came into existence.

What would happen if the barter system still existed in this hi-tech world?

Would I exchange a sofa set for a Korg keyboard?

An iPad for TV or laptop… (Or it would be vice-versa)

4 wardrobes for a bike… Does anyone own 4 wardrobes? (Would anyone do that?)

Flight ticket in exchange of car! (Is it to much? Anyways, you can bargain)

An office for house!

Books instead of your electricity bill! (I’d love to do this)

A bagpack for shoes!

What would you get as your salary?

What would you pay as your taxi fare?

How would you pay for your monthly ration?

How would the bargaining go?

How would the financial institutions work? (Would there be any?)

Facebook Mania!!!

After a long time I visited the cyber café. I love lurking around cyber café’s (the truth is my internet was disconnected because, I did not renew it!). As I was completely addicted to Facebook, I couldn’t miss a day without logging in to my account. Though nothing new I had to do, but still you know how it is. It served me, like drugs to Mr. Mojo Risin (Jim Morrison) courtesy Pratik NIRVANA Dixit (my colleague, I never knew this anagram).

Back to the story…

As I reached the cyber café in my vicinity, to my bad luck all computers were occupied. So I had to wait for a while. I didn’t mind waiting as there were two girls (pretty) sitting in the cyber, with whom I flirted merrily (through eyes).

Soon my eyeballs caught a glimpse of something aberrant. I couldn’t believe what my eyes witnessed. There were youngsters, who were flirting around with girls on Facebook. But, that’s not what amazed me! What kept me transfixed was the old man (around 70’s), who was checking profiles on Facebook! For a moment I thought Mr. Mark Zuckerberg has given the oldies an opportunity to flirt around.

When this was not enough, besides him, was a boy (around 11years) who was also twiddling around on Facebook!

I mean, what has an old man in his late 70’s got to do on Facebook! And, doesn’t that kid have any homework? I tried to sneak in their computers to see what they were up to, but couldn’t see anything.

Soon I forgot about those two pretty girls sitting and giggling at me. My psyche was completely diverted on this young and old social media savvies. I was getting very anxious to know what they are doing on Facebook.

Then, within a couple of minutes, the cyber owner called my name and pointed his finger to the empty seat besides that old man. I calmly sat and clicked on the internet explorer tab. As I logged in my Facebook account, with the corner of my eye I saw this old man staring at me, as if I had blurted out something blasphemous.

After about five minutes, I broke the ice. With an amicable voice I asked him, “Uncle what are you doing on Facebook.” Mind your own business was his reply in a stern tone. What!!! I had just asked him a genuine question, and this is how he responds!

Then I decided that I can’t sit besides this grumpy old man. So, I asked the owner for some other place. He asked me to occupy the computer besides that child. I was happy, as I wanted to sit besides him to know what he was doing on Facebook.

Quickly I shifted to that PC and logged in my Facebook account. This time in a friendly and childish manner I introduced myself to him. He smiled and introduced himself as Aryan (Still that old man was staring at me). And, as we starting exchanging personal details, like a true father I started giving him a lecture on the side effects of Facebook. After listening to my speech, he said something which kept me in awe. In a gracious tone he said, “My grandfather has asked me to sit on Facebook”.

After mulling over that grandfather who asks his son to sit on Facebook, rather than study, I asked him, “What exactly are you doing Aryan?” now, as if irritated he said to me, “I’m not wasting time on chatting with girls on Facebook, like you people do. I’m handling the Social Media of various companies for which I am paid!” he said it in one go. As I was about to utter something, he continued, “And this is my grandfather (pointing at the old man) sitting next to me.”

Without uttering a word, I turn to my computer, logged off my account, and flew away from that place. What else could I do!!!

Friend

Sitting in a secluded area
I had no criteria
Had everything messed up,
All ideas crashed up

Then you came in my life
Like a silent night
With all your charm
And a sight

You showed me direction
My mind clicked and got your connection
In you I started to seek inspiration
Even though there was a bit of fluctuation

You held me well
And said, “I’m there with you Mel”
The touch of your sweet soft hand
Enticed me to pretend

Like a cute little child
Kept me telling, there’s no end
It’s you who got me wild
To choose my path, just like a true friend

So, I take this time out
For you my friend
Not a single sound
Just words to bend

Riverside

Sitting near the river
I felt a little bit of shiver
When a fish popped up
As if saying to me, Wassup?

That made me think
Sitting at the brink
Why did the water threw it up?
Was it acting up?

Or did they have a fight
That blinded the water’s sight
And that’s why it threw the fish
Just to land back in its belly
